The 23rd International Scientific Conference on Advance in Civil Engineering

On September 23, 2020 in Hanoi, the National University of Civil Engineering (NUCE) held the 23rd International Scientific Conference on Advance in Civil Engineering with the theme "Construction: The Formation of Living Environment".

Attending the off-line seminar at NUCE, were the presences of: Mr. Vu Ngoc Anh – General Director of Science - Technology and Environment Department, Ministry of Construction (MOC); Mr. Le Trung Thanh – Director of Vietnam Institute for Building Materials; Mr. Hoang Ha – Former General Director of Science and Technology Department, Ministry of Transport; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Duy Hoa - Rector of NUCE;

Joining online were: Prof. Pavel Akimov - Rector of Moscow Construction University, Russian Federation (MGSU); Prof. Uktam Umurzakov - Director of the Institute of Agricultural and Irrigation Engineering, Republic of Uzbekistan (TIIAME); Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Van Thuong - Rector of University of Architecture, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Quan - Rector of Hanoi Architectural University and leading scientists, researchers from more than 15 countries around the world.

The conference was co-organized by 5 units: NUCE in Viet Nam; Moscow Construction University, Russian Federation (MGSU); University of Architecture, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, Hanoi Architectural University, Vietnam (HAU) and Institute of Agricultural and Irrigation Engineering, Republic of Uzbekistan (TIIAME).

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Duy Hoa - Rector of NUCE gave opening speech for the conference

Speaking at the opening of the conference, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Duy Hoa - Rector of NUCE emphasized that “this year is a special year - an international conference is held online at many ends of the globe connection. Although the Covid-19 pandemic is raging in many parts of the world, it still cannot prevent the enthusiastic participation of scientists and people interested in the field of construction - creating living environment. The conference is considered a success by the participation of leading scientists, researchers from more than 27 countries around the world”.

Thematic sessions of the online seminar took place from 14:00 - 18:00 on September 24, 2020 on the Zoom system, jointly operated by the NUCE. Presentations at the Plenary Session of the conference are being in bilingual English and Vietnamese.
The conference "Construction – Formation of living environment - FORM 2020" continued the topics that started in 1997 on technological topics to make buildings safer and smarter with owners. Subjects including: Smart City; Modern building materials; Reliability of construction works; New construction technology; Construction management; Technical infrastructure.According to Mr. Vu Ngoc Anh, General Director of Department of Science, Technology and Environment, Ministry of Construction: “I am very happy on behalf of the Ministry of Construction to participate in this international conference. This is the conference gathering international experts in the construction field.  There are many rectors participating in the conference which demonstrates the close cooperation between specialized universities. I hope to have many events like that so that the construction industry has more sustainable projects, creating better living environment”.

The conference took place in an exciting atmosphere because of the positive interaction between the speakers and attendees. Thanks to the careful preparation of the NUCE and the smooth transmission technology, questions from participants far from the other side of the ocean still received satisfactory answers from Vietnamese speakers. This is a good opportunity for universities, research institutes and enterprises to exchange information, promote images, services, products and update new and advanced technologies in the world regarding the construction and formation of a sustainable living environment are currently of great interest in Vietnam.
