THE PROGRAM "JAPANESE-VIETNAMESE CONSULTING EXCHANGE TO SUPPORT TECHNICAL SOLUTIONS FOR WATER TREATMENT IN VIETNAM"

On December 15, 2022, the 3rd "Japanese-Vietnamese consulting exchange to support technical solutions for water treatment" took place at Hanoi University of Civil Engineering (HUCE). The program was organized aiming at connecting and promoting trade activities between Vietnamese and Japanese enterprises. The exchange-consultation session was organized by the Faculty of Environmental Engineering - Hanoi University of Civil Engineering (HUCE), Vietnam-Japan High Technology Institute (VJIAT) in collaboration with the Japan Global Environmental Fund Center (GEC), Forum to promote business in the field of water environment in Shiga Prefecture, Japan (Team Water Shiga).

Attending the program, on the Vietnam’s side, there were the participation of Mr. Nghiem Ha Tan, Deputy Head of International Cooperation Department, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Duc Luong, Vice Dean of Environmental Engineering Faculty - Hanoi University of Civil Engineering, representatives from Quang Ninh Department of Construction and 12 enterprises in the field of water supply and drainage from Hai Phong, Hai Duong, Quang Ninh, Thanh Hoa and Hanoi.

On the Japan’s side, there were Mr. Maki - representative of Shiga Prefectural Government, Mr. Oishi - representative of the Global Environmental Fund of Japan (GEC) and 04 enterprises in the water environment technology industry including HORIBA Advanced Techno Co., Ltd. Taiyo Sangyo Company (DEWX), Tsurumi Pump Company and Hitachi Zosen Company.

To delivery his opening speech, Mr. Nghiem Ha Tan, Deputy Head of International Cooperation Department, Hanoi University of Civil Engineering highlighted the importance of advanced technical and technological solutions, suitable for sustainable development and circular economy. The school will give its best support to effectively implement the connection and transfer of technology between enterprises as well as provide human resources of leading specialized engineers for Vietnamese and Japanese units.

Mr. Maki, representative of Shiga Prefectural Government, said that Shiga Prefecture also faced problems with water pollution in the past. However, environmental issues were tackled, and water environment was preserved thanks to the joint effort of companies, research institutes, the government and the people. Mr. Maki hopes that the program will share more state-of-the-art technologies with Vietnam's water supply and drainage enterprises as well as open up many cooperation opportunities between the two sides in the coming time.

This is a very meaningful activity so that water supply, drainage and wastewater treatment enterprises of the two countries can learn the needs of each party; building strategic development cooperation, suitable to the very potential water and wastewater treatment market of Vietnam.
