On the morning of January 26, 2021, at the Palace of Planning, Fair and Exhibition in Quang Ninh province happened the Awarding ceremony for the excellent graduate thesis was completed by students and their supervisors. The ceremony was hosted by Vietnam Urban Development Planning Association. 

The ceremony was attended by Mr. Nguyen Tuong Van - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Ninh province; Mr. Tran Ngoc Chinh - Chairman of Vietnam Urban Development Planning Association; Mr. Le Cong Luong - Deputy General Secretary of Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations. On the side of Faculty of Architecture & Planning, NUCE, there was Dr. Architect Nguyen Cao Lanh - Dean of Faculty of Architecture & Planning; Dr. Tong Ngoc Tu - Head of CLC Engineering Department; Dr. Architect Le Quynh Chi - Deputy Head of the Department of Urban and Regional Planning and the award-winning students. At the ceremony, there was also the presence of comrades in the BOD of the Vietnam Urban Development Planning Association, representatives of 8 universities with awarded projects, students together with supervisors. 

Overview of the ceremony

To the educational and training sector, the increasingly serious and widespread COVID-19 pandemic worldwide has made the 2019-2020 school year far more memorable. Educators and learners have been together through thick and thin to overcome the hardship of accomplishing the schoolyear. Thanks to immediate adaptation and innovation in teaching and learning methods, the learning outcomes were assured. As a result, all the submitted graduate thesis are reported to be creative and up-to-date that touch on ongoing social issues such as sustainable development, responses to climate change, ecological urban areas, green cities; smart cities, using renewable energy, using digital transformation technology, etc. Those theses successfully offer scientific and highly practical solutions.

The Excellent Graduation Project Award 2020 is an annual award of the Vietnam Urban Development Planning Association. This award aims to recognize and appreciate teachers’ contribution in teaching and stimulate the learning spirit among students who majored in Urban Planning, Urban Technical Infrastructure and Urban Management in universities nationwide. The awards help prepare students better for the future. This year's awards were given to 39 projects carried out by 61 students and 65 turns of instructors from universities specializing in Planning, Urban Technical Infrastructure and Urban Management. All thesis documents are registered to meet the requirements and requisite marking criteria proposed by the Association.

It is believed that the award will be supported and attract a large number of participants afterward. The Vietnam Urban Development Planning Association will continue to accompany universities in training students – said Mr. Tran Ngoc Chinh.

On behalf of the leaders of Quang Ninh province, Mr. Nguyen Tuong Van - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee praised the efforts and creativity of students and teachers attending. Van expected that there will be more meaningful events related to urban planning, technical infrastructure, urban management organized in the future. It aims to figure out innovative ideas contributing to the development of planning in general and strategic infrastructure planning of Quang Ninh province in particular. On this occasion, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and the President of the Vietnam Urban Development Planning Association also sent New Year wishes to the delegates, teachers and students attending the ceremony.
