Study Abroad Workshop - NUCE Connection Day 2021

On the afternoon of January 26, 2021, at NUCE, Faculty of International Training, The International Cooperation Center For Education And Consultancy (ICCEC) and the Vietnam Japan Institute for Advanced Technology (VJIAT) together with representatives of Universities in the UK and Australia in Vietnam held a Workshop on international training cooperation programs for the academic year 2021 - 2022, also known as NUCE Connection Day 2021. The workshop provides NUCE students opportunities to study at high-profile universities in the world.

Overview of the meeting

Attending the Workshop, on the partner side, there was Ms. Le Xuan - Southeast Asia Regional Director, Huddersfield University; Ms. Nguyen Thu Trang - Representative of Deakin University (Australia) in Vietnam and Ms. Vi Thi Quoc Khanh - Director of New Pathway Study Abroad Company. On the side of NUCE, there was Dr. Ta Quynh Hoa - Dean of Faculty of International Studies, Director of ICCEC; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dang Thi Thanh Huyen - Vice Dean of Faculty of International Studies, Deputy Director of ICCEC; Dr. Nguyen Lan Huong - Vice President of VIJAT Institute; MSc. Pham Huu Tung - Deputy Head of Training Department; MSc. Pham Thi My Lan – Deputy Head of Information & Communication Department; MSc. Nghiem Ha Tan - Deputy Head of International Cooperation Department; Dr. Truong Ngoc Lan - Vice Dean of Faculty of Architecture & Planning; MSc. Nguyen Thanh Trung – Vice Dean of Faculty of Environmental Engineering and coordinators of joint programs, staff of Faculty of International Studies, ICCEC, alumni and students who are interested in the programs.

Representatives of Huddersfield and Deakin universities introduce partner universities as well as the cooperation program associated with NUCE following the opening speech by Dr. Ta Quynh Hoa.

The University of Huddersfield was established in 1825 including 7 school branches and 23,000 students among which international students account for 3,000. The university is ranked top 9th qualified Urban Design tertiary schools and top 200 best universities in the world according to World University Rankings of Times Higher Education Young University Rankings, TOP 600 according to QS World University Rankings published in the year 2018, TOP 10 UK modern universities in terms of quality of teaching and facilities. The University of Huddersfield signed a Cooperation Agreement with NUCE in 2017 and began to have students participate in the credit transfer system from 2017. NUCE students can join the credit transfer program with structures 2-2 in Architecture (2 years studying in Vietnam and 2 years studying abroad) or 3-2 in Construction Economics & Urban Management and others.

Deakin University (Australia) is in the top 1% high-profile universities over the world (according to the Shanghai Rankings World University Rankings), TOP 200 according to QS World University Rankings in 2018, TOP 50 newly-established universities worldwide and TOP 1 tertiary institution in term of student satisfaction among Victorian universities for 9 years in a row. NUCE students can join the credit transfer program affiliated with Deakin University with majors in Computer Science, Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Architecture in 2-2 or 2.5-2 formula.

Following the agenda, the Faculty of International Studies and the ICCEC introduce their joint master's programs with Germany and Taiwan. National Taiwan University (NTU) and Leipzig University of Applied Sciences (HTWK Leipzig) have remained as close and prestigious partners of NUCE over years. Master's joint programs with NTU and HTWK Leipzig have been implemented, enrolling many courses with impressive results with more than 120 students participating in the NTU program, about 20 of whom are lecturers of NUCE and about 16 postgrads continue studying for a doctorate degree in Taiwan, Australia, Japan, Canada, France, etc. Students from several nations such as Japan, Mozambique, etc. were reported to enroll in the programs. Especially, students also have chances to listen to NUCE alumni who have just completed their NUCE-NTU program share about their experience.

At this year's seminar, students have also received valuable information as well as study abroad opportunities from the master's joint training program between NUCE and Saitama University (Japan) under the management of the Vietnam Japan Institute for Advanced Technology (VJIAT). Saitama University ranks TOP 800 according to QS World University Rankings in 2021, TOP 50 in Japan with a total of 8,300 students, including 570 international students. This year's program is enrolling the 6th class.

In addition, the School's International Cooperation Department introduces students to attractive scholarships and student exchange programs in collaboration with partner schools such as Thailand, Singapore, Germany, France, and Norway.

At the end of the conference, the Exchange, Q&A and consultation session was happened to engage students to proactively raise questions for discussion. The consultants were representatives of international schools, Faculty of International Studies, International Relations Office, VJIAT Institute and students together answer those questions. It witnesses a dynamic and enthusiastic vibe in this follow-up part.
