After days of intensive and serious work, on the morning of October 1st, 2026, Hanoi University of Civil Engineering (HUCE) held a closing ceremony and summary of the external evaluation of four training programs according to the standards of the ASEAN University Network - Quality Assurance (AUN-QA). This evaluation was not only a measure of quality but also an opportunity for the University to reflect on and further improve its educational mission.
Overview of the Closing Ceremony
In his concluding remarks at the ceremony, Professor Arnulfo P. Azcarraga, Head of the AUN-QA Assessment Team, expressed his deep gratitude to all faculty and staff of the University for their cooperation and dedicated efforts. The Professor emphasized that the core of quality assurance according to AUN-QA revolves around three elements: clearly defining objectives, implementing activities consistent with those objectives, and continuously improving to fill any gaps. Quality assurance is not just about meeting standards, but ultimately about delivering the best value to learners.
Acknowledging the serious and professional work in preparing the documents and evidence, Professor Azcarraga commended HUCE for successfully meeting all the detailed evaluation requirements – a very proud achievement in its first participation in the AUN-QA program-level accreditation. Looking to the future, the Head of the evaluation team suggested a development direction for the University: in addition to engineering disciplines, HUCE should strengthen the integration of social sciences and humanities to train well-rounded students capable of solving practical societal problems. At the same time, promoting a multidisciplinary and multicultural academic environment and attracting more international students is also an important step forward. Quoting a young lecturer at the University, the Professor expressed his confidence: "Looking at the changes at HUCE in recent years, we have high hopes that things will continue to improve."

On behalf of the leadership of Hanoi University of Civil Engineering, Associate Professor Dr. Hoang Tung - Rector of the University, expressed his deep gratitude to the expert evaluation team for their thorough preparation and invaluable recommendations. The Rector affirmed that the areas for improvement pointed out by the team are crucial for the University to continue enhancing the quality of its training programs and promoting the overall development of the entire institution. Associate Professor Dr. Hoang Tung also thanked the staff, lecturers, and students for their tireless work and direct contributions to the success of the evaluation.
At the end of the ceremony, the school's leaders expressed their hope to receive the award soon. We received the official report from the AUN-QA evaluation team with positive results.
