On the afternoon of August 22, 2024, Hanoi University of Civil Engineering (HUCE) and the Hanoi Department of Science and Technology (DST) held a working session to discuss the results of implementing science and technology tasks; evaluate the results of the implementation of Program No. 07-CTr/TU; and exchange views on proposed directions for commissioning city-level science and technology tasks in 2025 and subsequent years.

Overview of the Conference

Attending the working session were the Director and Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology; the Director of the Department of Construction, representatives from the Department of Planning and Architecture of Hanoi City; representatives from the Steering Committees of Science and Technology Programs, and experts advising on science and technology for Hanoi City.

Representing Hanoi University of Civil Engineering were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Dinh Thi - Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the University Council; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hoang Tung - Rector; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Hoang Giang - Vice Rector, along with leaders of relevant units and scientists, and project leaders of key science and technology projects of the University.

Dr. Nguyen Hong Son - Director of the Department of Science and Technology, delivered a speech at the Conference.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hoang Tung - Rector, delivered a speech at the Conference.

At the conference, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Viet Phuong - Head of the Science and Technology Department, on behalf of Hanoi University of Civil Engineering, reported on the university's science and technology activities during the 2021-2024 period with specific data. This included many science and technology activities of the university that were directly related to and coordinated with the science and technology activities of the Department, as well as the development of science and technology in Hanoi over the past period.

 Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Viet Phuong reported on the science and technology activities of Hanoi University of Civil Engineering during the period 2021-2024.

At the conference, experts and scientists also discussed and contributed ideas on the direction of science and technology tasks proposed and commissioned by the Department of Science and Technology; proposing many solutions and contents to address the issues of concern in the proposed science and technology tasks for 2025. Some issues of particular interest to the conference included: solutions for wastewater treatment, technology for treating runoff in rivers in the city; technology for treating solid waste and construction waste, environmental treatment technology; application of digital technology in science and technology activities; urban development spatial planning and transportation infrastructure development for the capital city.

In his concluding remarks at the conference, Dr. Nguyen Hong Son, Director of the Department of Science and Technology, thanked the University of Social Sciences and Humanities for its interest in organizing the working session and for its important contributions. Dr. Nguyen Hong Son shared that the University of Social Sciences and Humanities is a reliable partner for the Department of Science and Technology and Hanoi City in exchanging and cooperating. He noted that the University's experts have shown great interest in the development of science and technology in the capital city and have provided significant support to the Department in collaborative activities. This is evidenced by the participation of many lecturers in numerous city-wide science and technology projects, many of which have research products applicable to the development of Hanoi, and many lecturers from the University providing advice and support to the Department, as well as offering suggestions for the Department's work. He expressed confidence that in the future there will be even more cooperation between the University and the Department to support the development of Hanoi and the country.
