On April 9, 2022, the Vietnam Urban Planning and Development Association (VUDPA) held a ceremony to award and gave certificates of merit from the President of VUDPA. 62 students who major in Urban Planning, Urban Infrastructure Engineering and Environment, and Urban Management with excellent graduation projects in 2021 were awarded. Hanoi University of Civil Engineering was honored to host the ceremony.

Attending the awarding ceremony was the involvement of Mr. Tran Ngoc Chinh - Chairman of VUDPA, Chairman of the Award Judging Council; Prof. Dr. Do Hau – Vice President and General Secretary of VUDPA; Prof. Dr. Nguyen Quoc Thong - Member of the Executive Board of the Vietnam Association of Architects; Dr. Architects. Ngo Trung Hai – General Secretary of the Association of Vietnamese Cities; members of the Executive Committee of VUDPA, leaders of universities and 62 award-winning students. The Excellent Graduate Student Project Award in 2021, an annual award of VUDPA, aims at recognizing and appreciating the efforts of students and lecturers in universities that provide training in Urban Planning, Urban Infrastructure Engineering and Environment, and Urban Management.
The academic year 2020-2021 continues to be severely affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, teaching and learning activities were mainly organized via the online platform as a result. By which it means that those winning projects prove great efforts of students and lecturers over the past period. For this reason, all awards were given for recognition.
At this award ceremony, Ho Chi Minh City University of Architecture was selected as the collective award winner because of its plenty of projects registered and awarded high prizes. Regarding individual prizes, the Judging Council had classified and judged prizes with the following results: 40 projects in 3 specialties awarded including 05 projects winning the First Prize; 12 projects winning the Second Prize; 14 projects winning the Third Prize and 11 projects winning the Consolation Prize. At the same time, 53 lecturers accompanying students in 40 projects were also awarded the certificate of merit by VUDPA.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Tran Ngoc Chinh pledged that the Association will always accompany schools in the field of training in Architecture - Planning - Technical Infrastructure and the Environment. The president also expressed his faith in the response of students to the projects in the following academic year. He hoped that the next projects will be more qualified than prior ones, more practically scientific and more commonly applied in practice.
On behalf of HUCE, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Pham Xuan Anh also affirmed that the Excellent Graduate Project Award has contributed to promoting the research and learning movement, improving the quality of teaching and learning, and encouraging young talents to have a passion for the field of Urban Planning and Development. The award has become a tradition and is resemble the Loa Thanh Award in the Planning field.
