In anticipation of the series of events celebrating the 70th anniversary of training and the 60th anniversary of the establishment of Hanoi University of Civil Engineering (1966 – 2026), on June 19, 2026, the Faculty of Hydraulic Engineering organized a Scientific and Technological Workshop with the theme: "Hydraulic Engineering and Logistics Infrastructure: Planning – Design – Construction – Operation – Digital Transformation" . This is a key professional activity within the series of Scientific, Technological and Innovation Conferences of the University, expected to strengthen the bridge between teaching, academic research and practical production in the current Hydraulic and Logistics industry.

Overview of the Conference
Attending the workshop were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Phu Doanh – Vice Rector of Hanoi University of Civil Engineering; Dr. Vu Quoc Hung – Head of the Department of Hydraulic Engineering; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mai Sy Hung – Deputy Head of the Department of Hydraulic Engineering; Mr. Le The Phong – Deputy Head of the Technical and Safety Department, EVN Vietnam Electricity Group, former student of K42; Mr. Doan Vinh Loc – Director of TEDIPort (Port and Waterway Construction Consulting Joint Stock Company); Mr. Chiang Hsin Tai – Vietnam Regional Director, Road Ahead Vietnam Engineering Consulting Company Limited, along with scientists, experts, businesses, management agencies, professional organizations, and a large number of lecturers and students.
In his opening remarks at the workshop, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Phu Doanh – Vice Rector of the University – affirmed that, over 60 years of formation and development, Hanoi University of Civil Engineering has established itself as a leading center for training, scientific research, and technology transfer in the fields of construction, infrastructure, and urban development. In particular, the field of hydraulic engineering has always been one of the University's traditional strengths. Many generations of engineers, experts, and managers trained from the Faculty of Hydraulic Engineering are currently holding important positions in state management agencies, businesses, research institutes, and professional organizations nationwide. “In the context of globalization, digital transformation, and climate change posing many new challenges, logistics infrastructure and waterworks are not only factors ensuring socio-economic development but also a foundation for enhancing national competitiveness. Science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation are crucial drivers for creating rapid and sustainable development in the new era,” Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Phu Doanh emphasized.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Phu Doanh – Vice Rector of the University, delivered the opening remarks at the conference.
Associate Professor Bui Phu Doanh stated that Hanoi University of Civil Engineering is orienting its training model towards research, research towards businesses, and innovation towards the development needs of the country: “The university places special emphasis on the cooperation model between the State - University - Businesses. Businesses are not only employers but also strategic partners in training, research, technology transfer, and innovation. The close connection between these parties will contribute to improving the quality of human resources, promoting the commercialization of research results, and building a science and technology ecosystem to serve the development of Vietnam's construction and infrastructure industry.”

Experts present scientific reports at the conference.
The conference brought together many in-depth scientific reports, updating research trends and new technology applications in the fields of hydraulic engineering and logistics infrastructure, such as:
- Developing Nghe An province into a logistics center for the North Central region by 2030, with a vision to 2045;
- Simulation software for container port operations;
- Researching new materials and engineering solutions in construction projects;
- Application of GIS in disaster risk assessment;
- Assessing micro-level flood damage and risk mitigation solutions;
- Studies related to design standards for shipping lanes and harbors.
The reports not only provide new research findings but also suggest many approaches and technical solutions for planning, designing, constructing, and managing hydraulic structures under the conditions of climate change and sustainable development requirements. According to experts, in response to the country's new development needs, the hydraulic engineering and logistics sector needs to accelerate the application of advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), Building Information Modeling (BIM), remote sensing, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), smart sensor technology, hydraulic dynamics simulation, and digital transformation solutions in the management and operation of structures. The research results presented at the conference are not only academically significant but also highly applicable, contributing to solving practical problems in the planning, design, construction, and management of technical infrastructure.
