Scientific workshop Co-Organized under the Collaboration of HUCE and Department of Resources and Environment of Danang

On the afternoon of November 26, 2021 in Da Nang city, HaNoi University of Civil Engineering (HUCE) cooperated with the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Da Nang city to successfully organize a webinar "Evaluating the implementation type of solid waste at source in Da Nang city to serve the goal of sustainable waste management".

Representatives from NUCE were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Duy Hoa - Rector, Chairman of the Satreps Project Supervision Council; Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Hoang Giang, Vice Rector, Director of the Satreps Project, together with the representatives of the Project Management Board and leaders of the Departments and Faculty of the University.

Attending at nearly 80 online bridge points are experts and managers from Japan's Saitama University, Japan International Cooperation Agency, international organizations, Da Nang City Departments, Vinh Phuc Departments of Natural Resources and Environment; Hai Phong Department of Construction, NGOs such as Green Hub, CECRs, iDE, IGES, etc.

At this seminar, Vietnamese and Japanese experts presented many topics related to solid waste management and treatment experience in accordance with the objectives and content of the SATREPS Project "Establishing an effective solid waste construction management system to control environmental pollution and enhance the ability to manufacture new materials from recycled construction waste in Vietnam” as well as a strategy to develop and implement a management model and recycling construction solid waste in Da Nang city by 2025. At the same time, the Project also awarded the results of research and evaluation on solid waste management of Da Nang city to the Department of Natural Resources and Environment.

The SATREPS project is a non-refundable aid project of the Japan International Cooperation Agency for Hanoi National University of Civil Engineering for the period 2018 - 2023. HUCE and the School of Saitama (Japan) are two main units implementing the project. Project is set to recycle construction waste (PTX) into new materials with technical instructions attached. Therefore, the coordination among the project beneficiaries, the state management agencies and deploying the replication of the project results to the provinces and cities is very important to contribute to the success and sustainable development of the project.
