On the morning of April 21, 2026, Hanoi University of Civil Engineering held a signing ceremony for a cooperation agreement with the School of Architecture & Urban Planning, Tongji University (China). This event marks an important milestone in strengthening international cooperation and promoting the development of training and research in the fields of architecture and urban planning between the two institutions.

Overview of the signing ceremony

Attending the ceremony, on behalf of the School of Architecture & Urban Planning, Tongji University were Professor Chen Chen - Vice President; Dr. Kan Liu - Vice Dean of the Faculty of Architecture; and Mr. Jie Yin - Vice Director of the PGF International Education Center for Architecture and Urban Planning.

Representing Hanoi University of Civil Engineering were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hoang Tung - Rector; Ms. Nghiem Ha Tan - Deputy Head of the Department of External Relations and International Cooperation; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dang Thi Thanh Huyen - Deputy Head of the International Training Faculty; Dr. Nguyen Cao Lanh - Head of the Faculty of Architecture & Planning, along with lecturers and staff of the Faculty.

The parties exchanged views on the content of the cooperation agreement to be signed.

Speaking at the ceremony, representatives from both sides emphasized the enormous potential for cooperation between the two universities, especially in the context of the increasingly deep international integration of higher education.

Associate Professor Hoang Tung, Rector of Hanoi University of Civil Engineering, affirmed that the signing of the cooperation agreement with Tongji University – one of the leading institutions for architecture and urban planning in China – will open up many opportunities for learning, research, and academic exchange for lecturers and students.

On the partner side, Professor Chen Chen, Vice President of the School of Architecture & Urban Planning, Tongji University, expressed his desire to promote long-term and effective cooperation with Hanoi University of Civil Engineering, and highly appreciated the development potential of Hanoi University of Civil Engineering in the field of architecture and urban planning training in Vietnam.

The two sides proceeded to sign the cooperation agreement.

According to the signed agreement, the two sides will implement key areas of cooperation such as: student and faculty exchange; organizing short-term courses and joint academic programs; coordinating scientific research and developing collaborative projects in the fields of architecture and urban planning.
