The 33rd Loa Thanh Award honor 64 Excellent projects

Loa Thanh Award is annually organized by the Vietnam Federation of Civil Engineering Associations, the Vietnam Association of Architects, the Central Committee of Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and the Ministry of Construction in order to motivate and encourage students to study and be passionate about scientific research. The Award helps to discover and honor young talents, improve the quality of training, young engineers and architects for the construction industry; and that is the best luggage for final-year students when they graduate.
Participating in this year's award ceremony were Mr. Phan Xuan Dung - the Secretary of Party Committee, the Chairman of Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations, Dr. Architect. Phan Dang Son – the Chairman of Vietnam Association of Architects, Dr. Dang Viet Dung – the Chairman of Vietnam Federation of Civil Engineering Associations, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Tai – the Member of Presidium of Vietnam Federation of Civil Engineering Associations – the Standing member of Loa Thanh Award Council, the Head of  Organization Committee of Loa Thanh Award 2021, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vu Ngoc Anh – the Director General of Science and Technology Department (Ministry of Construction), Mr. Ho Chi Quang – the Deputy Director General of Architecture and Planning Department, the Member of Organization Committee of Loa Thanh Award 2021, and representatives of  agencies, schools and students from the schools with award winners.
According to the Organization Committee, in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, schools have faced many obstacles in training, teachers and students rarely met; but there were still 20 schools participating in the competition with 188 projects. The high prizes this year still belong to the contest projects of the schools that have many times winning prizes and have many projects participating in the competition such as: Hanoi University of Civil Engineering, Hanoi Architectural University, and University of Architecture Ho Chi Minh City.
To help the Award Council accurately assess the quality of the contested projects, the Organization Committee have established 6 Professional Councils with 42 members. According to the assessment of the Professional Councils, this year, most of the Civil Engineering and Technology projects meet the requirements of synthesis, knowledge system; they are elaborately implemented, are close to reality, and have the high feasibility. The architecture and planning projects are of higher quality than those in previous years, especially at the stage of choosing topics and researching ideas associated with digital transformation.
Based on the contest rules and criteria, after the serious process of grading and discussion, the Organization Committee decided on the prize structure including: 5 First prizes, 13 Second prizes, 23 Third prizes, and 23 Consolation prizes.
Notably, the Song Bo Bridge Design project by Doan Xuan Hung, a student at Hanoi University of Civil Engineering, was evaluated by the Award Professional Council for its excellent quality, rareness, synthesis, application of advanced science and technology.

Or the project of Landscape Architecture Design of a part of the Da Lat - Phan Rang cog-railway by Le Tan Chung, University of Architecture Ho Chi Minh City, is also an attractive topic, bringing the breath of the development of the economy and tourism based on the potential of history, culture, and natural landscape.
This year, Hanoi University of Civil Engineering submitted 34 projects to the competition, including 24 projects in the Civil Engineering and Technology and 10 projects in the Architecture and Planning. Overall achievements: Hanoi University of Civil Engineering was ranked first among 20 universities across the country with 34 project submissions, 13 winning projects, including 2 First Prizes, 5 Second prizes, 3 Third prizes, and 3 Consolation prizes. This is a very proud result of the teachers and students of Hanoi University of Civil Engineering.
