On July 15, 2026, the Group of 7 leading technical universities in Vietnam (G7) conference was successfully held in Phu Tho. At the conference, Hanoi University of Civil Engineering (HUE), along with other member universities, agreed on many important decisions, demonstrating proactiveness and responsibility in sharing resources, digital transformation, and addressing sustainable development challenges for the country, practically moving towards the 60th anniversary of the University's founding.
Overview of the Conference
The conference was attended by Prof. Dr. Nguyen Tien Thao - Director of the Department of Higher Education (Ministry of Education and Training), along with the Board of Directors and representatives of functional units from 7 leading technical higher education institutions: Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Hanoi University of Civil Engineering, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City), Da Nang University of Technology, University of Transport, University of Mining and Geology, and University of Water Resources.
The delegation from Hanoi University of Civil Engineering, led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hoang Tung - Rector of the University, along with representatives from various departments and functional units, contributed many strategic ideas during the discussion sessions.
Leveraging core strengths to create a shared ecosystem.
In the context of higher education setting new requirements for strategic technology development according to Resolution 71/NQ-TW and Resolution 29-NQ/TW, the group of 7 technical universities has determined that cooperation should not be limited to individual exchanges but must transform into programs with specific goals, products, and evaluation mechanisms.
As a leading university in the fields of construction, planning, and infrastructure development, Hanoi University of Civil Engineering (HUE) has emphasized the importance of sharing resources within the group. Accordingly, HUE is committed to working with its member universities to strongly promote the shared utilization of facilities, specialized laboratories, and the sharing of experts and scientific personnel.
In particular, the conference reached a high level of consensus on the strategy for developing a team of lecturers with doctoral degrees for the period 2026–2030. This is an important step to improve the quality of human resources, in which Hanoi University of Civil Engineering is ready to cooperate with universities with similar strengths to co-create training programs, supervise doctoral students, and share international partner networks to enhance the publication of scientific papers worldwide.

Professor Dr. Le Anh Tuan - Director of Hanoi University of Science and Technology, delivered the opening speech at the conference.

Associate Professor Hoang Tung - Rector of the University, shared his views at the Conference.
At the conference, Professor Nguyen Hoang Giang, Vice Rector of the University, delivered an important presentation, clearly demonstrating that digital transformation in education is a top priority. With regard to the G7 countries, Hanoi University of Education and Training (HUET) is committed to actively participating and agreeing on a roadmap for building a MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) digital university platform and a shared learning resources system.

Professor Dr. Nguyen Hoang Giang - Vice Rector of the University, presented a paper at the Conference.
In the near future, universities will research mechanisms for student exchange, cross-credit recognition, and the application of a linked E-learning system. Sharing training management software, plagiarism detection software, and digitized learning materials will help optimize costs and provide a flexible and modern learning environment for students of Hanoi University of Civil Engineering as well as students throughout the entire university.
In addition, the leaders of the universities also agreed to promote the "small group within a large group" model – where Hanoi University of Civil Engineering can coordinate more closely with universities training in infrastructure, transportation, and irrigation to solve macro-level problems related to agricultural development, environmental protection, disaster management, and smart urban planning.
In his remarks at the conference, Professor Nguyen Tien Thao highly appreciated the fact that the seven universities maintained a close coordination mechanism and proactively concretized initiatives into feasible plans. The Director suggested that the technical sector should continue to exchange ideas and reach a common voice to advise and contribute to policies and guidelines for state management agencies.

Professor Dr. Nguyen Tien Thao - Director of the Department of Higher Education, delivered a keynote speech at the Conference.
The conference concluded with a high degree of consensus on the establishment of a joint steering committee and the development of short-term, medium-term, and long-term action plans for the upcoming school year.
For Hanoi University of Civil Engineering (HUCE), the comprehensive cooperation commitments at this G7 conference not only elevate the university's position within the engineering sector but also serve as a perfect springboard, creating new momentum towards a significant milestone: the 60th anniversary of the university's founding (1966-2026). This is clear evidence of HUCE's strong transformation in the digital age, continuously improving the quality of education and scientific research, and serving the cause of industrialization and modernization of the country.
