On the morning of December 9, 2025, at Hanoi University of Civil Engineering (HUCE), a delegation of experts from the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST), led by Professor Yamaguchi Yasushi – Honorary Professor and Research Supervisor of the SATREPS Project, held a working session and conducted a mid-term evaluation of the SATREPS Project “Development of a Water Supply System Adapting to Polluted Water Sources”.

Overview of the work review session
The meeting was chaired by Prof. Dr. Nguyen Hoang Giang – Vice Rector and Project Director, with the participation of Mr. Shinoda Takanobu – Deputy Chief Representative of JICA Vietnam, Japanese experts, and the Vietnamese research team.
Speaking at the meeting, Professor Nguyen Hoang Giang – Vice Rector of Hanoi University of Civil Engineering and Project Director – expressed his appreciation for the research results and efforts of the expert team from both countries over the past 2.5 years of project implementation. Professor Nguyen Hoang Giang emphasized that the SATREPS Project is of significant importance in protecting water resources, ensuring public health, and responding to challenges in water security, especially in the face of the increasing presence of new pollutants. The research results are expected to make a practical contribution to building a safe and sustainable water supply system and support the Vietnamese Government's water resource management goals in the coming period.

Professor Dr. Nguyen Hoang Giang – Vice Rector of Hanoi University of Civil Engineering, delivered a speech at the working session.
The JST evaluation team worked with the research group to gather data, information, and feedback for the report to be submitted to the evaluation committee in Japan. Based on this, the committee will synthesize and draw conclusions according to the program's official evaluation process.
The SATREPS project, "Developing a Water Supply System Adapting to Polluted Water Sources," is a key research project within the framework of the Science and Technology Research Partnership Program for Sustainable Development (SATREPS). It is also one of the large-scale projects funded by the Japanese Government's ODA (Official Development Assistance) for global research aimed at applying technology to address urgent problems. The project is co-funded by JICA and JST; implemented in collaboration with Hanoi University of Civil Engineering and Nagasaki University (Japan), with a implementation period from July 1, 2023 to June 30, 2028.

The research team prepared a report and the parties exchanged information about their work.
The working session between HUCE and the JST evaluation team is an important step in ensuring the progress and quality of research and promoting sustainable scientific cooperation between Vietnam and Japan in the field of water resources.
