The Salvatico Bridge Construction Competition and Wooden Bridge Building Exchange between students of Hanoi University of Civil Engineering and students of Nihon University, Japan.

On September 10, 2024, Hanoi University of Civil Engineering (HUE) and Nihon University, Japan, jointly organized a competition to build asphalt bridges and a Salvatico wooden bridge building exchange for students from both universities studying Civil Engineering and Bridge and Road Engineering. The competition also included participation from students of the JP Career Project (a collaborative project to develop high-quality human resources in the field of Civil Engineering between HUE and Japanese partners).

41 students participated in the competition, divided into 7 teams (16 Nihon University students, 15 JP Career Academy students, and 10 students from the Civil Engineering Faculty of Hanoi University of Civil Engineering). They brainstormed ideas, expressed them on paper, and used provided materials (foam, thread, paper, bamboo strips, straws, glue, etc.).   To assemble the bridge model.

Following that, the groups will present their work and perform load testing on their models. Each group will have 3 minutes for their presentation and 5 minutes for the test. The final results, evaluated based on criteria set by experts, will determine the groups' rankings. The program helps to enhance interaction among students in particular and cooperation between the two universities in general. The first and second place teams will receive commemorative gifts, while the teams in sixth and seventh place will be penalized by playing games as part of the program.
