On June 29, 2023, Faculty of Civil & Industrial Construction together with other faculties of Hanoi University of Civil Engineering (HUCE) organized the program "Dialogue between students majoring in General Civil Engineering and enterprises”, aiming at providing students career orientation and strengthening the connection between the HUCE and businesses in training high-quality bachelors and engineers to meet the needs of society.

An overview of the event
Speaking at the opening of the event, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Binh Ha, Head of Training Management Department – HUCE, highly appreciated the dialogue between students and enterprises. This activity manifests close connection, extensive cooperation between the faculties and businesses in terms of HUCE’s training programs, also, it is a bridge to connect students and businesses. Students take advantage of sharing from businesses to make a better career choice. Through practical internship and working for businesses while studying, students seize opportunities to apply expertise, step-by-step affirm their competency and creativity from applying taught theoretical knowledge into internship and employment.

Following the program, representatives of businesses introduced and presented the operating model of the business, shared directly to the students so that they could have an overall and more detailed view of the profession as well as job opportunities after graduation.

The event has attracted the interest of the students through Q&A part for businesses participating in the program. Questions mainly focused on areas such as career opportunities after graduation; essential knowledge and set of skills that students should obtain during university time in order to meet the requirement of employers; current policy of attracting talent of businesses, recruitment agencies, etc. All questions raised at the dialogue have been answered thoroughly by businesses, from which students are guided on clearer professional orientation and set of skills and more job opportunities in the future.

The training program of General Construction Engineering, abbreviated as GCE of Hanoi University of Civil Engineering, starting to enroll students from 2020, is an existing training program tailored similar to the Civil Engineering major of other universities from pretigous universities all over the world. The program provides a broad foundation of basic knowledge used in key construction fields (Civil - Bridges - Roads - Water Works - Marine Works, etc.) similar to construction engineering of famous universities in the world. The training program is designed according to CDIO approach, including 8 majors: Structural Engineering, Construction Engineering Technology, Geotechnical Engineering and Geoenvironmental Engineering, Geodetic Engineering and Geoinformatics Bachelor of Science, Marine Engineering, Energy Engineering, Marine Engineering and Infrastructure Engineering. Training products are graduates who have a broad understanding and are able to work excellently in construction fields; design and construction positions and have many opportunities to work in senior management positions in enterprises and state agencies. |
