In order to promote scientific research and technology transfer activities of Hanoi University of Civil Engineering (HUCE), simultaneously, summarize and evaluate scientific research and technology transfer activities in the academic year 2022-2023, it was on May 19, 2023, that the HNUE Science and Technology Conference 2023 (Sci-Tech) was held with the participation of lecturers, scientists, and representatives of units in the university and a number of domestic and foreign partners.
Overview of the HUCE Science and Technology Conference 2023
Attending the Conference, on the side of the guests were: Prof. Ken Kawamoto - Saitama University, Director of the Japanese Satreps research project; Mr. Pham Huy Cuong - Sales Manager in the North area, Sika Company in Vietnam; Mr. Nguyen Quang Vu - Industrial Director of Sika Company in Vietnam. On the side of Hanoi University of Civil Engineering, there were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Hoang Giang - Vice Rector, Head of Conference Organizing Committee; representatives who are leaders of Faculties/Institutes/Departments/Divisions of HUCE; members of strong research groups, Sci-Tech research groups at all levels and a number of scientists and researchers from partnership units affiliated with the University. The conference has attracted the great attention of scientists who are lecturers in the school and guests from outside to attend and exchange.
Sci-Tech research is an indispensable activity in higher education institutions, especially in the current period when HUCE is on its way to becoming a Research-intensive University, said Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Hoang Giang - Vice Rector of HUCE, Head of the Organizing Committee of the Conference at the opening of the Conference. Sci-Tech activities implemented at HUCE includes scientific research activities, experimental research and implementation, technology development, technology application, science and technology services, and promotion of innovation and other creative activities. These activities contribute to improving the quality of training and fostering human resources in innovation. At the same time, it creates intellectual property aiming at promoting production, technological innovation, and improving productivity and quality of products of agencies, ministries, branches and localities. Having been organized periodically, the Conference is an opportunity for HUCE to recognize and summarize the main achievements in Science and Technology in the period of 2020-2022. Also, researchers and scientists take full advantage of the conference to meet, exchange, and acquire novel Sci-Tech achievements.

Sci-Tech Conference 2023 is divided into plenary sessions and thematic sessions with 2 sub-committees: Sub-Committee 1 entitled "Structures, Bridges and Road, construction materials, geotechnical engineering and construction technology, marine works" and Sub-Committee 2 entitled "Economics and Construction management, environment, architecture and planning, mechanics, waterworks, information technology”. At the plenary session, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Hoang Giang gave a presentation on the topic "Solid construction waste recycling: From Research to Policy Development and Technology Transfer". A representative of Sika Company in Vietnam presented an introduction "Transfer of technology and Sika to the construction industry". Both presentations caught the great attention of the participants. Immediately afterward, 2 thematic sub-committees with nearly 100 ongoing research reports of the University were reported and attracted members to participate.

The Science and Technology Conference 2023 in HUCE was held to summarize and evaluate scientific research and technology transfer activities in the academic year 2022-2023. Especially, it helps to summarize the activities of strong research groups and other research groups of the University one year of establishment, as well as exchanging academic topics, information, and research results of various topics. It contributes to evaluating the results of research and transfer implementation. Concurrently, it promotes new directions, and enhances exchanges and cooperation, promotes connection among research groups as well as scientists and domestic and foreign partners. Thereby, the event built a solid foundation for the implementation of strategic research directions of the University in the period of 2020 - 2025 and a vision for 2030. The conference is also a forum for scientists inside and outside the university to report on scientific research results and technology transfer; exchange urgent issues raised in practice in professional fields. |
