In recent years, the accreditation of undergraduate and postgraduate training programs, as well as accreditation of higher education institutions (HEIs) following the AUN-QA set of standards has been approved by the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam, and many universities across the country are interested in this activity. Becoming an associate member of the ASEAN University Network - Quality Assurance (AUN-QA) is one of the mandatory requirements to be accredited following this set of standards.

By the end of August 2023, AUN-QA had 179 HEIs as associate members, of which Vietnam had 50 institutions. To join the group, HEIs submit an application that provides information about the formation, development, training and scientific research activities, as well as orientation and strategy in the field of accreditation and quality assurance. The AUN Council reviews, verifies and screens HEIs that wish to join.

Hanoi University of Civil Engineering (HUCE) has completed the procedures and submitted an application to become an associate member of AUN in March 2023.

Appreciating HUCE's commitments in quality assurance, as well as the achievements that the University has achieved, on September 13, 2023, Dr. Choltis Dhirathiti, Executive Director of AUN sent a letter to congratulate and to announce that HUCE has been accepted to become an associate member of AUN-QA from August 29, 2023, with the high consensus of members of the AUN Council at the meeting on June 13, 2023.
