At the beginning of July 2021, Cybermetrics Lab has just announced the results of Top Universities by Citations in Top Google Scholar profiles. This is also one of three indicators of the Webometrics University Rankings that would be announced at the end of July in the same year. Webometrics is a worldwide university ranking based on an online, big data analytics platform. It is established in 2004, and is published twice a year at the end of January and the end of July.

Google Scholar Citations (GSC) is based on the profiles of scientists of higher education institutions (HEI) globally that are publicly published on the Google Scholar system. GSC extracted the best 210 records of each higher education institution, excluding 20 portfolios from 1 to 20 to ensure representativeness, avoid individuality, and eliminate organizational, group, and institutional records, etc. This publication is based on data collected on June 21-24, 2021. The results of more than 4000 HEI with a total score of over 1000 are included in the list published by Webometrics on https://www.webometrics.info/en/transparent

The rankings for July 2021 recorded that Vietnam had 25 universities with a total score of over 1000, of which the highest rank belongs to Vietnam National University, Hanoi. This result shows the progress of the country's higher education, compared to the July 2020 period, Vietnam had 22 schools, the January 2021 period, Vietnam had 23 universities.

In this ranking, Hanoi University of Civil Engineering (HUCE) continued to make progress over the same period last year: the total score increased from 4793 to 9138, thus the world ranking increased from 2860 to 2755 out of a total of more than 30000 universities in the world.

In comparison with 178 domestic HEI, HUCE jumped from rank 16 in July 2020 to rank 13 in January 2021, and to rank 12 in July 2021.
