1. Introduction
Faculty members of the Faculty of Environmental EngineeringThe Faculty of Environmental Engineering is one of the twelve specialized faculties of Hanoi University of Civil Engineering. Along with the history and development of Hanoi University of Civil Engineering, the basic disciplines/specializations (Water Supply and Drainage, and Heating and Ventilation) of the Faculty of Environmental Engineering today were formed from the early days of Hanoi University of Civil Engineering's establishment in 1966. In 1971, the specialized training groups in Water Supply and Drainage and Heating and Ventilation combined with the specialized group in Building Materials to form the Faculty of Building Materials and Sanitary Engineering.
In 1989, in response to the country's renovation process and the growing demand for engineers, master's graduates, and doctoral-level specialists in the environmental field, the Water Supply and Drainage and Heating and Ventilation major separated from the Faculty of Building Materials and Sanitary Engineering to establish the Faculty of Environmental Engineering. This was the first Faculty of Environmental Engineering in the system of technical universities in Vietnam, consisting of 3 specialized groups: (1) Water Supply and Drainage, (2) Building Microclimate (now the Department of Microclimate and Building Environment), (3) Thermal Engineering (now the Energy and Environment specialized group). By 2001, the Faculty of Environmental Engineering had added (4) the Environmental Technology and Management specialized group and a new training major, Urban and Industrial Environment (later transformed into the Environmental Engineering Technology major), which began admitting students from the 46th cohort of Hanoi University of Civil Engineering. In 2019, in response to the general trend and the need for innovation in the undergraduate training programs of Hanoi University of Civil Engineering, the Faculty of Environmental Engineering developed and introduced a new major – Environmental Engineering. This new undergraduate program uses the advanced CDIO approach ( Conceive – Design – Implement – Operate ) to meet international standards, aiming to equip students with a solid foundation of knowledge in natural sciences and engineering, and the ability to conceive, design, implement, and operate environmental pollution control and treatment systems, as well as environmental infrastructure.
With more than 60 years of training history and over 30 years since its establishment as an independent faculty, the Faculty of Environmental Engineering has grown significantly in both quantity and quality, becoming one of the University's strong academic units in undergraduate, master's, and doctoral training, as well as scientific research in the fields of environmental infrastructure and engineering, environmental science and management, and sustainable development. Many alumni of the Faculty of Environmental Engineering hold important positions in Party and government agencies from central to local levels, as well as in economic groups, corporations, companies, and other organizations. Currently, the Faculty of Environmental Engineering has 48 staff members, including: 2 People's Teachers / Meritorious Teachers, 10 Professors and Associate Professors, and 40 PhDs, Master's degree holders, and lecturers.

4. Training objectives
The Faculty of Environmental Engineering places societal needs at the center of its training activities. Through a combination of specialized knowledge, course projects, and graduation projects, students develop practical professional competencies. Graduates are well prepared for employment in relevant fields and have access to competitive entry-level career opportunities.
5. Scientific research
The Faculty of Environmental Engineering is one of the leading units of Hanoi University of Civil Engineering in scientific research in the fields of infrastructure and environmental engineering, environmental science and management, and sustainable development. Over the years, faculty members have led and participated in numerous science and technology projects at various levels (international protocol, state, ministry/department, provincial/city, and institutional levels), international cooperation projects, and have built a network of scientific research cooperation with many universities, research institutes, and domestic and international organizations. The Faculty of Environmental Engineering is also one of the units within Hanoi University of Civil Engineering with the highest number of international scientific publications in recent years.
Many faculty members of the Faculty of Environmental Engineering are leading experts in Vietnam in several specialized fields such as water and wastewater treatment; water resource management; solid waste treatment and management; exhaust gas treatment and air quality management; and energy-efficient engineering. Through the implementation of scientific and technological projects and research topics, many generations of faculty members of the Faculty of Environmental Engineering have made significant and effective contributions to environmental protection and sustainable development in the process of industrialization, modernization, and socio-economic development of the country.
6. Areas of Activity
Some of the main areas of activity for faculty members of the Faculty of Environmental Engineering include:
- Technological and engineering solutions for controlling environmental pollution (soil, water, air, waste); sustainable, green, low-emission environmental infrastructure.
- Science and policy for managing the environment (land, water, air, waste) and resources.
- Sustainable, smart, low-emission cities and urban areas.
