B. INTRODUCTION TO THE DEPARTMENTS AND SPECIALIZATIONS OF THE FACULTY OF HYDRAULIC ENGINEERING
1. Logistics and supply chain management.
1.1 Introduction to the field
Logistics is a series of intermediary activities encompassing the planning, implementation, and control of goods flows, the control of input raw materials and supplies, and the output of finished products, from the point of origin to the point of consumption. Logistics activities include import and export freight transportation, fleet management, warehousing, raw materials management, order fulfillment, inventory management, and supply/demand planning.
Supply chain management is a broader set encompassing all management activities along the chain from raw materials to customers, including planning and managing all activities related to sourcing and procurement, and encompassing all logistics operations.
Logistics and supply chain management tasks can be divided into four main areas:
1) Sourcing suppliers and developing a procurement plan.
2) Warehousing (inventory management, warehouse rental and storage services: leasing or renting warehouses for raw materials and equipment, container warehouses, international marketing, strategic management, building and managing a system of warehouse layouts and warehouse connection points, etc.)
3) Logistics (customs clearance agent and transportation planning, loading and unloading of goods, etc.)
4) Transportation (planning for cargo handling services, loading or unloading goods onto ships, vehicles, containers, multimodal transport such as road, rail and sea, turnkey transportation from the point of production to the point of consumption of goods using various modes of transport, ...)
The logistics industry, closely linked to supply chain management, has gradually affirmed its significant role in the economy.
