High-Quality Engineering Training Department

The PFIEV program was established in 1999 under an educational cooperation agreement between the Vietnamese and French governments. Four leading technical universities in Vietnam were selected to participate in the PFIEV program: Hanoi University of Civil Engineering (HUCE), Hanoi University of Technology, Da Nang University of Technology, and Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology. On the French side, a consortium of major universities partnered with PFIEV to advise on the program, including: the National School of Civil Engineering in Paris, the National Institute of Applied Sciences in Lyon, the Central University of Paris, the National Institute of Technology in Grenoble, the National University of Mechanics and Aeronautical Engineering in Poitiers, the National University of Electrical, Electronic, Informatics, Hydraulic and Telecommunications Engineering in Toulouse, the National University of Telecommunications in Brittany, and Lycée Louis le Grand.

The Professional Field Engineers Education Program in Vietnam (PFIEV) trains versatile civil engineers who are highly skilled in their field, proficient in foreign languages, possess strong analytical thinking abilities and creative skills, and are well-suited to leadership roles, forming the core of organizations and businesses in the construction sector in Vietnam and around the world.

The advanced training program follows French and European standards for civil engineering, equipping students with one of four specializations:

- Infrastructure Transportation (equipped with knowledge of civil engineering for bridges and roads)

- Urban Engineering (providing knowledge in urban planning and infrastructure engineering)

- Hydraulic Engineering (providing knowledge for Hydraulic Engineering; Marine Engineering)

- Building Materials (equipping students with knowledge of Building Materials Engineering)

The 5-year training program is built on a solid foundation of basic science knowledge (first 2 years) and specialized/field-specific knowledge (next 3 years). The training process is closely linked to businesses (internships, site visits, etc.), and students have the opportunity to intern and complete their graduation projects at businesses through a "Business Semester" program with co-guidance from business experts, thereby bringing the PFIEV brand closer to the business community and society.

Phase 1 (first 2 years): Partner school Lycée Louis le Grand.

Phase 2 (3 years later): Subjects related to the major and specialization.

- Specialization in Transport Infrastructure (Infrastructure de Transport)

Partner: National School of Civil Engineering Paris – ENPC (École des Ponts ParisTech).

- Urban Engineering specialization (Ingénierie Urbaine).

Partner: National Institute of Applied Sciences Lyon – INSA de Lyon (Institut National des Sciences Appliquées de Lyon).

- Specialization in Hydraulic Engineering (Ingénierie Hydraulique).

Partner: Grenoble National Polytechnic Institute – INP de Grenoble (Institut National Polytechnique de Grenoble).

- Specialization in Building Materials (Matériaux de construction).

Partner: National School of Civil Engineering Paris – ENPC (École des Ponts ParisTech).

Foreign language: According to the output standards required by the Ministry of Education and Training.

- The French government has funded the construction of high-quality laboratories for PFIEV-Hanoi University of Civil Engineering, including: Materials Laboratory, Chemistry Laboratory, Physics Laboratory, and a Reading and Conference Room with many foreign books and documents.

- New facilities have been invested in, including 2 multi-purpose classrooms (for foreign language learning and other learning activities), and 1 Reading Room/Library specifically for PFIEV.

- The French Embassy and Hanoi University of Civil Engineering are sponsoring intensive French language courses with native teachers, and extra French classes to help students achieve at least the DELF B1 level.

The PFIEV high-quality engineering degree is recognized throughout Europe and North America by the French government's engineering degree granting commission (Commission des Titres d'Ingénieur – CTI), and is also recognized as equivalent to a master's degree by the Vietnamese Ministry of Education and Training (Official Letter No. 2297, dated May 15, 2015 – Ministry of Education and Training). In addition to the main degree, a diploma supplement is issued to eligible students, co-signed by Hanoi University of Civil Engineering. French partner institutions and schools.

- With a high-quality PFIEV engineering degree (equivalent to a master's degree), students can directly transfer to a doctoral program.

- PFIEV graduates are eligible for admission (without entrance exams) to Master's programs; they only need to complete an additional 6 credits and write a thesis to receive a Master's degree from Hanoi University of Civil Engineering.

- The qualifications are accredited and recognized internationally, so engineers graduating from PFIEV have many opportunities to continue their postgraduate studies and work abroad.

CTI certification in Transportation Infrastructure (IT) is equivalent to a Master's degree (2017)

CTI certifies the Urban Engineering (IU) specialization as equivalent to a Master's degree (2017)

CTI certifies the specialization in Hydraulic Engineering (IH) equivalent to a Master's degree (2017)

The Vietnamese Ministry of Education and Training recognizes the PFIEV diploma. Meets international standards, equivalent to a master's degree (2015)

There are many postgraduate scholarship opportunities in France and other Francophone countries thanks to the internationally recognized high-quality engineering training program. The average number of PFIEV students studying abroad is 25% each year. Numerous scholarship opportunities are available.

- Eiffel Scholarship and dual degree program in France (4+2 program: 4 years at Hanoi University of Civil Engineering and the final 2 years at a partner university in France) (8 scholarships per year).
